How To Paint A Landscape Where The Sun Is At Back Of Painter?

if the sun is not in view of artist, and it is at the back of painter, it is a sunset, and painter’s view is in east and so sun is at back of painter, how the colors will be ? and whether one should always paint with a sun in view ?

  1. At sunset, the sky opposite to the sun often has color as well, but not as strongly as closer to where the sun is setting. I don’t think you need to always paint with the sun in view. I’ve painted at sunset many time directly from life without having the sun in view.

  2. you’re not painting the sunset, but rather at sunset or sun down, similar to being at sunrise, so you would paint what you see, lights and shadows, colours and shaded tones, everything would have its own color, as well if the sun set has colours within, orange, pink. or violet grays, those can be placed as highlites on the scenery/ landscape,

  3. no it s not always necessary to paint a sun in view but when u r painting a sunset u can show with little shades & if there is some waterbody in ur landscape then u can show the reflection of the setting sun in it.

  4. sun and moon are nature
with out nature there is no art
if you still want to paint that way see that you can show good shaped shadows.sun set always with orange and yellow
