Why Is Painter’s Tape So Terrible?? Is There Something That Works Better?

3M blue tape, the 2080, safe release. The orange and blue packaging.
We use it DAILY, and live by it.
There is also a green tape, it’s for delicate projects. It has a very light stick. Painters Mate Green.http://www.thegreentape.com/

  1. honestly when I have painted I forgo using tape. Instead what I do is get a Drywall Trowel, and use that as my guide. Just wipe off trowel as you go. Its much easier and saves alot of time due to not having to tape anything off

  2. I guess you are talking about the blue tape. Its not supposed to be great. They made this tape because all other tapes would stick to the walls and peel paint.

  3. THERE IS A CUT - IN BLADE THAT WORKS GOOD BUT REMEMBER TO WIPE THE PAINT OFF THE BLADE WHEN YOU PICK IT UP OFF THE WALL TO MOVE IT . IT IS BEST TO SLIDE IT DOWN THE WALL INSTEAD OF PICKING IT UP . YOU CAN FIND THEM AT YOUR HARDWARE STORES SOMETIMES IN THE PAINT DEPT. OR WALLPAPER DEPT. THEY COME IN SEVERAL SIZES

  4. You must be talking about masking tape. (tan) It’s what was used before the blue and orange painters tape was introduced. The new tape revolutionized masking before painting. The orange keeps paint from bleeding under the tape. Try that.
