I’m 15 years old and I have been interested in photography for around 3 years now.
I’m now able to get a job and being a shelf packer or a check out chick has never really appealed to me. I would like to start off my getting a small job in the photography industry.
Where can I begin? I wouldn’t complain about being a caddy for a photography pro but how would I go about doing something like that?
Any suggestions about where I can begin?

photographers interested in art are self employed. they are their own bosses. a professional photographer is a person who sells their art to someone or something.
there are also photographers that take pictures of run way models or portaits. you should see a beauty agency about that one.
and there are photographers that uncover the truth. paparazzi. they take photos of celebrities, important people, etc. and they sell their photos to magazines and news papers.
the ones who sell art photography might get the most money. there are images worth millions of dollars. model photography is second and paparazzi is small time.
its cool how you want to take photography as a career. hope this helps.

You’re too young to legally work at 15 in most states. Here in Indiana I couldn’t hire anyone under 16 and many won’t hire anyone under 18 because of all the restrictions on when and how much teens can work.
I’m guessing you’re a freshman in high school? Take photography classes there. most high schools offer them as part of their art programs. If not, take journalism. Student photographers take many of the photos for high school yearbooks and school newspapers. That’s great experience and give you access to a darkroom and lots of practice doing professional photography…dealing with deadlines and satisfying editors, etc.
After high school go to college, and see if a local photographer will hire you as an assistant. Most pros get their start assisting for an established studio before going out on their own. Note that most pros are self employed small business owners…..there are almost no “Real Jobs” for photographers..you make your own job.

take a few good pictures, print them, stick them in a nice book and call it a portfolio lol
then see if anyone you know knows anyone in the photography business, and ask them if they will show round your portfolio a bit.
if you dont know anyone, you could always make a website or something and try to advertise the work your doing.
ask at a photography shop near you?
not too sure about that but im really interested in photography as well, but probably only as a hobby

why photographyy…. every “artsy” person that has no talent seems to want to take up photography!
just because you took a decent myspace picture does not mean you will suceed in the industry

In most states you have to be 18 to work as a film technician due to the chemicals.
If you’re any good, why not try some freelance portrait sessions? At your age, there’s typically no way you can just jump in. It’s a competitive field and you’ve got to work at it.

you could always work in the photo processing lab at a drug store, to get started, at least.
