Painters And Artists: Any Suggestions On How To Sell My Paintings And/or Promote My Art?

I would like to sell my paintings and promote my art. My goal and dream is to be working artist (painter) that can support myself and my family through my art.
I just am not sure what the best route in doing that is, how do I get my art out there to sell or to get commissions for a painting?
What route did you take in order to successfully promote yourself and your art?
I would appreciate any positive and respectful suggestions and posts, thank you.

How Important Are Graphic Artists Nowadays? Is There Any Need In The World For People Who Can Draw And Paint?

I want to know if there is any need in the world for people who can draw or paint. I mean, with photography and Photoshop nowadays, is there really any need for graphic designers/artists?
I want to be a painter or at least draw, but I’m not sure if there is a need for them in society these days.
What do you think of people who can draw and paint? Is there any need for them anymore? Is it a talent worth having these days?

What Are Some Films About Artists And Painters Etc?

What are some films about artists and painters etc?
Not documentaries, but more formalistic films about artists and painters. For instance the movie “Pollock” is a great example of the painter, Sydney Pollack.
Thank you!

Painter Of A Lion And His Family And Not Sure Of The Artists Name It Looks Like P. Pelongpric?

There were no hits for anything spelled Pelongpic, so on a hunch I changed it to Delongpic.
Bingo. (Maybe.)
Paul de Longpre,[French-born American Painter, 1855-1911.]http://www.artcyclopedia.com/artists/lon…
And:
Quote:
Paul DeLongpre was the most significant watercolor specialist to arrive in Los Angeles in the late 19th century
Unquote.
Bio and photo of him here:http://www.redferngallery.com/BuyDeLongp…
More Bio info, including this tidbit:
“A street in Hollywood is named for the man called “Le Roi des Fleurs”. De longpre died there on June 29, 1911.”
Quote from the following page at the californiapaintings.com site:http://tinyurl.com/ytuhgh
Now, the reason I said “Maybe” is because this Paul de Longpre seems to have painted mostly still lifes and flowers. (Rather well, too, in a dreamlandish kind of way….)
Not lion families.
For a quick and dirty test, you can click on one of the photos of his portraits at the Redfern link, or one of the other sites with photos, blow it up to 150% and compare signatures.
So if your painting isn’t a print, and the signatures seem to match, it just might be unique. Worth taking a high quality digital image of it and sending it to some museums and galleries and maybe even the big auction houses (Southeby’s, Christies, etc.) for a pro evaluation.
How much is it worth, then? Hard to say. The site(s) listing the auction prices require registration and fees. If this is an unique work by a significant painter, previous prices are no guideline, and the value will depend on the fickle mood of the Art market-might be lots, might not be. But you can assume a high end potential value for insurance purposes…
If the signature does seem to match, you can google for more De Longpre info.

Who Are Your Favourite Artists (painter/photographer/etc.)?

I would like ideas for my A Level art work. I’m a little stuck on where to start, since i have already covered my famous artists in previous projects. I think i just need to learn about artists I have never heard or thought of before.
I am very interested in realism but i am open to any other movements - please suggest names of who you think are good artists and i can research their work. Thanks :)

I Am An Artist (painter Mostly) Who Loves Architecture. Are There Jobs For Artists W/architects?

I am a painter mostly, but would be willing to learn a creative trade (e.g. tile making, art / window screens, and the like) to be able to work with architects - preferrably on large projects that in some way allow for the highlight or showcase of the less “architectural”, more artistic pieces.
(FYI: I would prefer posting this in Arts & Humanities, as well as Home & Garden but Y!Q does not allow!)

How Many Prominent Artists Are There In The History Of Painting? Is There A List Of Painter’s Whose Paintings

Is there a book that has details of all painters whose paintings have sold at any considerable value. I am looking for a single source that list all the prominent painters whose paintings have sold at auction houses like Sotheby’s and Christies. Also, to those who are in the know, what are the chances that any painting I come across is by a prominent artist? Percentage wise, what are the chances of me running into a valueable paitning at a flea market, estate sale or otherwise. Are most paintings that exist insignificant and not painted by anybody prominent?
