I want to learn to code in ASP.net, so I attempted to set up my PC and install the necessary stuff to use Vista on my PC.
I download and installed everything on the “web platform installer” from the official website here:http://www.asp.net/downloads/essential/
Now what do I do? Can I start coding or what? It installed Visual Web Developer, and there are no options to create or test ASP.net pages. I followed another tutorial previously to go onto my “Windows Features” on my control panel and enabled ASP.net and the IIS settings and such, but I have no clue what I changed on my computers settings to really allow me to code in ASP.net.
Can I start making pages now or what, and I can I test pages in Internet Explorer? Someone who knows ASP.net please guide me through the process of being able to code and test ASP.net pages on my PC.

Asp.net And Iis 6.0 I Installed An Update On Intranet Server And Now I Cant See Any Pictures Or Backgrounds!?
I was currently using Visual web developer 2005 I updated to 2008 and it install alot of updates including .net 3.0. The server immediately quit working so I uninstalled the updates and visual web developer 2008. The problem I am having now is that now pictures will display or backgrounds. I get the red X or a no picture picture. I have been working on this for days now and any help will be greatly welcomed!

Trying To Run Asp.net Application From My ‘favorites’ Folder?
Brand new to web development. Using Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition.
Created a small browser application that I will use daily.
I’ve ‘built’ and ‘configured’ the application while Visaul Web Developer is running. I’ve added a link to my ‘Favorites’ that runs the application - http://localhost:3189/MyMeterWebsite/ - but this only works if I run the application in Visual Web Developer.
How can I get the application to run without having to open Visual Web Developer? I don’t want to post it to a live website, I just want to run it from my local computer.
I don’t have IIS.

How Do I Get Remote Error Details In Asp.net 2.0 (i Think)? I’m Just Getting The Runtime Error Screen.?
I downloaded the Express (free) version of Visual Web Developer today and am trying to build my first website in ASP.NET 2.0. I’m an MCSD and I’ve done this before in ASP.NET 1.1.
When I create a new website in Visual Web Developer it doesn’t create a web.config file or a global.asax. Only a default.aspx. What is going on?
Does this Express version not do any of that? Am I not using the right menu commands to start? How do I get the error details to display remotely? (I’m building on my remote webhost and trying to debug from home).
This is a tough one I know. Please help.

How Do I Learn Asp.net 2.0?
I am an amateur webmaster, and I would like to learn ASP.net 2.0. Currently I know how to design in HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Flash; but I would like to learn ASP since it is more programming-oriented and seems to be used by a lot of people today. The problem is that all the books that I find on Amazon are mostly references, but I don’t need a reference — more like a beginner’s book. So what are your recommendations? Is there a website that helps you get the grip of it? Also, I am working with Microsoft Expression Web, not Visual Web Developer. Thanks.

What Scripts Do You Need To Know To Learn Asp.net I Heard, U Need C /c/c# But Then What Do You Learn For That
i read that for ‘asp.net for dummies’ u only need basic understanding of html. but for other beginner books you need to learn c# (which i don’t know because i am a beginner). I then read on asp.net that you start off with visual web developer express. Do you use that for asp.net applications? can you do in that? is it a WYSIWYG editor? Is Asp.net a technology or a script?
what should learn before learning c , c# etc??

Is There An Alternative To Iis Which Can Support Asp.net Applications?
I want to create some ASP.NET web services using visual web developer and the book I have says I need IIS to host the webservices. However I only have windows XP home which doesn’t included IIS. Web Development In Asp.net 401.3 Error?
here’s the deal. i have a web service spitting out xml and a web application that reads the xml into an office web component pivot table. However, in order to do so, I need to add a web reference to the application. That’s the problem.
When I make the attempt, I receive a 401.3 “Access is denied” error. I’m clueless as to how to fix this. I’ve already scoured the net. I’ve checked the IIS settings for read access to everything in the web service directory. I’m running .net framework 2.0 and xp pro. The web service works when I use visual web developer 2008, but otherwise wouldn’t. Now I’m asking here.
If you have any ideas, then I would really appreciate hearing them. Better yet, if you know how to combine the web service / app into one piece of code, then that would be great. Thanks in advance!
Again, here’s what I’m attempting to do.
1. sql code / pull X from DB
2. convert that to an xml stream compatible with OWC
3. read the xml into an OWC pivot table
4. display the OWC pivot table
5. allow the sql code to be changed dynamically to pull different sets of data

At 55 Am I Too Old To Become An Asp.net Developer?
Got fired from my previous job at walmart & was wondering if I could start a web developer career. I know nothing about programming or web development. Now I was told to learn asp.net. How long will it take me to get my first job? The learning curve? How many months should I expect to lrearn asp.net until I get good at it to offer my services as consultant on dice.com. Any books or material that I should buy? Plz if you feel that 55 is too old let me know , I have no desir to invest my time in asp.net if the market is closed for me because of my age.

i made a list using treeview ,the nodes of these trees are suppose to be hyperlinks .When i click one the nodes i want to send the id of this node to another page .
The other page receive the id and then use it for searching or anything .

Asp.net 2.0 Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Question?
I already asked this question yesterday but I added more info and I’m afraid no one can see my new questions. Anyway, what I’m trying to do is have a listings page (listings.aspx) which shows records. One of the columns is “Details” and once clicked, the user gets taken to Details.aspx. On this Details page, I want to add a Photos field which will display the photos of a house.
But the problem is I can’t populate the table with the photos. The data type I’ve selected for Photo is “image”. I can’t put any data in there. I get the following error msg:
Invalid value for cell (row 1, column 15). The changed value in this cell was not recognized as valid.

Error Message: You cannot use the Result pane to set this Field data to values other than NULL.
Type a value appropriate for the data type or press ESC to cancel the change.
