Am I Web Designer, Developer, Programmer, Or Something Else?
I’m planning for my career and I need to know what exactly I want to become.
I have experience in HTML, XHTML, CSS, RSS, XML, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, Flash, Dream Weaver, Fireworks, and Photoshop.
I want to learn Perl, XSL, XSLT, e-commerce, and basically all the major programming and design aspects that make websites.
I have a website which I built from the ground up. I used Notepad to write the code and Photoshop to make the images. Basically, I am well-rounded with web design aspects. So what would I call myself? And what would I get as an annual salary? What if I did freelance?

I’m A Web Developer Learning The Business Side. What Else Can I Do To Move Up In The It Field?
I obviously don’t want to be a developer forever. I’m 24 and making around 70K. While I’m trying to learn more about the overall business, it is limited simply because my company is more of a design/print company who is getting into web.
I eventually want to be something like an IT web systems manager or similar. I want to hear from people in this area and what it took to move up in the field.
Are there any books I can read? What official positions are there in the web business industry aside from developers/designers, etc. (I’m referring up upper level and management). What tasks are involved with your position in your company? What challenges do you face? I don’t plan on leaving my company too soon, but obviously want to move up and not plateau. Thanks!
