Why Was Galileo The First Man To Establish A Split Between Humanists And Scientists?

Before Galileo, a scholar was seen holistically, studying math, speaking, philosophy, arts, etc. Look at Leonardo da Vinci - he was a master engineer and painter yet his legacy is of a Renaissance Man. With Galileo, however, his overall education is lost to his scientific work. Why from that point on were men classified as humanist or scientist but not both?

Where The First Cave Painter Lived?

The earliest cave painters that we know of - were not at Lascaux but at Chauvet, a network of caves near Vallon-Pont-d’Arc, a town in the south of France. They were discovered in 1995 and contain cave paintings and engravings estimated to be 17,000 to 20,000 years old.
The info. confirming that they are the oldest can be found on link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cave_painti…

What Comes First, Designing Or Developing?

I am both an amateur web designer and developer. I have some ideas that I would like to get off the ground. I understand that planning leads to success and that is where i typically fall short. I have no experience in the process of building a website from beginning to end.
I am looking for book recommendations, thoughts, tips, tricks, articles, etc. on this topic.
Thanks in advance,
Simon Jackson

Tips On Renting Your First Office Space?

I’m a web developer and am in need of a more professional atmosphere than my home office to actually get my work done.
What tips do you have for a person who is looking to rent his first office space? I’m not looking to spend over $600/mo and am in need of basically space and a decent internet connection. What should I look out for? What warnings do you have? What type of agreements do I have to live up to (regarding leases and such)?
I’m in the North Dallas area if that applies at all.

Any Tips For A First Time Painter? I Need To Paint The Interior Of My House And Have Never Done Before!?

Wash the walls first!!! If you don’t, the paint won’t stick well. Use ****’n’span or ask the paint seller.
Fill all holes and cracks with hole filler. Again, ask the paint seller for advice.
Use painter’s caulk (NOT plumbing or window caulk!) to smooth and fill the tops of baseboards and places where mouldings meet wallboard.
Put dropcloths on everything, and tape them down with painter’s masking tape.
Don’t let masking tape stay on anything more than 3 days.
When painting walls, zig zag the paint on to an area about a yard square, then smooth it in one direction straight. Then go to the next area.
Do two coats.
Painting is fun. Prep work is kinda boring, but very important. Don’t skip washing and filling holes before you start.
Painting is fun. Enjoy your beautiful new rooms.

Who Was The First Painter To Be Rich And Famous In His Own Lifetime?

I would say Michelangelo was the first superstar artist. Not only was he a renown painter but also sculptor and writer. When he was painting in the Vatican he was making 80 times the average daily wage. When he died he had a fortune rivaled by the richest bankers, but he lived like a poor person, supporting his whole family which never had enough. He himself and his apprentices when working on the Vatican sometimes ate the thinnest of soups and lived in terrible conditions.
I guess he never cared much for money and all it brings. He was more interested in his work, calling himself no good at his craft. He cared more about his soul and if he is going to go to heaven after death.

Should I Negotiate First Job Offer? Web Developer - Frankfort, Ky?

I recently received a job offer for a position as a Web Developer in the Frankfort, KY area. The offer includes a base salary of $43,000 a year as well as very good health benefits.
Does anyone know if that is a reasonable base salary for a web developer in this area? I have about 2 years of experience in web development.
Also, more generally speaking, is it expected that I will negotiate this first offer? Does a company typically low-ball the first offer because they figure you’re going to negotiate anyways? I don’t want to jeopardize the job by asking for more, but I don’t want to look like a push-over by simply accepting the first offer.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
