I have been painting for many years. I am trying to loosen up on my style, but still paint in a folk-artsy realistic style but not too tight.

Why Do Painters Moisten The Paper When Using Watercolor?
I tried painting without moistening the paper, and with; I didn’t really see a difference. Is it because I’m using cold press watercolor paper?
